Why material flow matters in a deep draw press
Consistent deep drawing depends on controlled material flow. You get this through reliable lubrication and the right blank holding force distribution. The more complex the part, the more critical these two factors become.
Precise lubrication
For revolution parts, an even layer of lubricant across the blank is often sufficient. For complex parts, a computerized sectorial lubricator is needed to apply a precise concentration to the correct location on the blank for consistent results.
Blank holding force distribution
For revolution parts, the press applies a uniform blank holding force that can ramp up or down through the draw to control flow and stretch. For rectangular or irregular parts, forces must vary around the blank. We can use a multi-cylinder setup with Independent Pressure Control (IPC) and Electronic Shimming (ES) to create asymmetric forces and optimize flow.
IPC:
Constantly and independently adjusts pressure on each blank holding cylinder to the targeted value at each point in the draw.
ES:
Replaces manual shimming with a programmable hydraulic system that applies localized and controlled force in real time during the draw.
